In western countries, tea is usually just an alternative hot drink next to coffee. It’s just water with some flavor, something to warm you when it’s cold outside or to help when someone is getting sick or already caught a cold.
China is very different. In China, drinking tea is not “just” drinking tea.
In ancient China, the practice of drinking tea was considered to be an expression of personal morality, education, social principles and status. In modern China, drinking tea is a way to welcome your visitors and neighbors. Chinese tea ceremony was born as a result of the respect for nature and need for peace, which the religious ceremonies involved. The philosophies of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism have blended together, giving birth to the magical Chinese tea ceremony.
During our traditional Chinese tea ceremonies, we teach you the differences between the different types of tea and what kind of tea you should enjoy on what occasion. We will show you how to prepare and celebrate a proper tea ceremony and what to look out for, to get the most out of the benefits of each type of tea.
